7 Things To Wear For Your Boudoir Shoot That Are Not Lingerie

Do I Have To Wear Lingerie At My Boudoir Photoshoot?

The number one reason most women don’t want to do a boudoir photo shoot is because they don’t want photos in their underwear. Well, I have some good news for you! You can wear whatever the F you want! 😂

To me, boudoir is a mindset, not a dress code. I always tell my clients to wear whatever you feel good in, or whatever you want to feel good in. We’ve done so many shoots over the years with clients who are fully dressed the entire time. And that’s AMAZING!

Why don’t you have to do your photos in your underwear? Because I do things a little differently around here. I don’t take sexy photos. I photograph women being strong, confident, feminine, elegant, and beautiful. THAT can happen in any outfit. And it’s part of our planning process. So you’ll have all of my guidance when choosing the perfect outfits for YOUR photo shoot.

What To Wear For My Boudoir Shoot

Dresses are always in style!

Few outfits bring out your confidence like a dress you’d wear on a first date. It can be your favorite cocktail dress, or flowing summer dress. It can be short and flirtatious, or bright and playful. Strappy or strapless. Sparkly or matte. There’s no wrong answer.

Showing off those fitness gains!

So many women have found peace, and confidence through fitness. Whether it’s yoga, or running, or hiking, or lifting weights, or just getting out of the house to take walks around the neighborhood, exercise releases endorphins and makes us feel good. Because of this, fitness attire can be a great option for your photoshoot.

Revive that wedding gown!

It’s the most expensive dress you’re only going to wear once, until now, that is. For some women, putting that dress on after all these years can reignite the passion and excitement you felt on that special day. And for others who eloped and didn’t have a traditional wedding photographer, this is a chance to show off your radiant self in that gorgeous gown.

Dress like your alter ego!

Costumes aren’t just for Halloween. They are an opportunity for us to let these other parts of ourselves out to play once in a while. Whether you swim with a mermaid tail, or dress like the Mother of Dragons, we can take stunning, movie-poster images of you dressed in whatever costume you desire.

Denim! Denim! Denim!

Everyone has that one pair of jeans that makes your butt look really good. This is the perfect opportunity to strut your stuff in that classic cotton. They can be dark, or light. Pristine or torn up! Short shorts or all the way down to the floor. Jeans are always a great choice in a boudoir shoot.

Touchdown!

Do we have any sports fans in the house? Whether it’s your jersey or your partners, a sports uniform is a great choice for a boudoir shoot when you want to stay covered up. We can be as playful and cheeky, or as conservative as you’d like. Any sport. Any team. With any ball/bat/gloves/equipment you want to bring.

Corsets, Robes, and Kimonos

What’s great about corsets, robes, and kimonos, is that they can be as flirtatious and alluring, or as laid back and casual as you are comfortable being. Corsets go well with jeans to show off your figure while staying covered. And turning away from the camera with a silk robe dropped off one shoulder is quite cheeky, while still keeping you covered. Mystery is always more alluring anyway.

BONUS: It’s Always Sweater Weather

Fuzzy knee high socks. Big comfy sweaters. Soft scarves. A cozy beanie with a poof ball on top! These are absolutely PERFECT for a boudoir shoot when you want to look cute and cozy and stay covered up. Just please avoid cashmere. It sheds all over everything 🙃
